Lyman Platt, Ph.D. will discuss the significance of the history of Harmony Valley, including the timeline of its early settlement in southern Utah and the history of John D. Lee and his role in building Fort Harmony, assisting the Paiute Indians with farming, polygamy, and the Mountain Meadows massacre.

Lyman D. Platt is a historian and has authored numerous publications, including books, technical manuals, articles, and manuscripts. He retired from employment in 2009 as director of the Kolob Family Research Center, but has continued his work as a genealogist and historian. Dr. Platt continues to be active in professional organizations and served as president of the Washington County Historical Society. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy from Columbia Pacific University in San Rafael, California.
