Marilyn Artus’s traveling project Her Flag comes to SLC, commemorating the passing of the 19th amendment. Marilyn will sew Jann Haworth’s stripe onto her huge flag, amid the 173rd birthday party for Seraph Young Ford, first woman to vote in Utah.
Salt Lake City artist Jann Haworth (SLC Pepper, Work In Progress Mural, Rose Crosswalk Mural..) was invited by Oklahoma artist Marilyn Artus to be one of 36 female artists, one from each of the states that helped ratify the 19th Amendment, to collaborate in creating a huge art flag…with a stripe from each state, a project Artus calls Her Flag. Marilyn will bring her traveling project to town Wednesday, November 6, 1-2pm at the Main City Library, where she will add Haworth’s stripe to the flag. Join us to watch Marilyn sew the stripe onto the huge flag, amid the 173rd birthday party (with cake) for Seraph Young Ford, first woman to vote in Utah and the modern nation.
