Dennis Martinez Art Conversation

Dennis Martinez is a professional artist, art educator and art therapist. He holds a BA from Princeton University in Art and Archaeology; an MA from the University of New Mexico in Art and Art History and an MFA in Creative Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dennis is currently Professor of Art at Dixie State University in St. George, Utah. He has been teaching in the Art Department for 24 years. He teaches Drawing, Painting, Design, Color Theory, Assemblage Sculpture and Installation Art courses. Dennis has works in collections across the U.S. and Western Europe. He continually exhibits his works and participates in arts discussions at colleges and universities nationwide. Most recently Dennis has presented a one man show in Las Vegas, Nevada, was Artist in Residence for the Parashant National Monument in Arizona and was nominated for Distinguished Professor of the Year at Dixie State.

Dennis's current show at the SGAM is entiled The Human Touch. It is a collaboration of constructed and painted forms reflecting a moment in time, mind and emotion. It touches upon inspirations of 20th Century European Expressionism and Modernism.
