A Studio of Her Own: Women Artists from the MOA Collection

A Studio of Her Own: Women Artists from the MOA Collection

Presented by Brigham Young University Museum of Art at Brigham Young University Museum of Art

Re-opening August 17, 2020

*****

In 2020, the Brigham Young University Museum of Art will join with many other museums and institutions commemorating the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States.  As we pause to consider women’s vital contributions to society, the Museum of Art celebrates their artistic creativity, originality, and impact with this new exhibition.

Women have been a significant part of the artworld for centuries. However, their work hasn’t always received equal attention and critical acclaim. A Studio of Her Own allows us to learn their stories, honor their achievements, and applaud their work. There are 60 artists included in the exhibition and 112 artworks. It showcases various styles and types of art, including painting, textiles, prints, photographs, mixed media, and digital work.

Whether you are drawn to Mabel Frazer’s colorful landscapes of Southern Utah, Minerva Teichert’s images of pioneers, Dorothea Lange’s compelling photographs, or scenes of country life by Grandma Moses, we hope you will enjoy A Studio of Her Own: Women Artists from the Collection.
