The WSU Gospel Music Festival is dedicated to all those who perform, to all those who play, to all those with a song in their heart or the hope to capture one.
Make a Joyful Noise: Twenty Years of Songs, Stories, and Community
January 24, 2020
7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
Austad Auditorium in the Val A. Browning Center
The goal of the festival is to share the African-American sacred music experience with all people and to show its influence on contemporary music. It is designed to educate and provide and celebrate cultural enrichment. The gospel music is based on traditions coming out of the experience of slavery. These characteristics and ways of creating and enjoying music, now the language of the popular music culture, came into contemporary culture by way of the performing traditions of the African-American church.
