ARTIST STATEMENT:

When I thought about what made me unique as an artist, I thought of two things: one, I'm a teen, two, I live in Salt Lake City. The more I thought about it, the more I realized what they have in common. Both teens and Salt Lake have extremes, character, history, and are often misunderstood. The more I thought about it the more connections I could make. Because of this, I decided to photograph teens from Salt Lake in Salt Lake in an attempt to show these commonalities.

ARTIST BIO:

My name is Simon Peaslee, and I’m a local photographer in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ever since I was little I can remember loving cameras. It always felt right to just hold one and take photos. It all started with a small Nikon Coolpix S210 point and shoot that I probably got around the age of 9. Since then I haven’t been able to put cameras down. I am now 17, and as passionate about photography as ever.
