ARTIST STATEMENT:

Mr. Haobo Zhang, a Chinese ink painting artist graduated from Xinzhuang Art Institute, in Beijing. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2014 because he found the beautiful mountains and peaceful atmosphere to be very similar to his hometown in China. He contributed some of his collections of art, painted by his friends, from Xinzhuang Art Institute, and some of his own paintings for this exhibition. Painting and building up a more beautiful world is his, and his artists friends’ dream. Xinzhuang Art Institute is located in east Beijing, China, a beautiful area surrounded by hot springs, rivers, and mountains. The Institute was founded by Mr. Zhongyun Feng, a well known Art Master of Chinese ink paintings, in 2009. His dream is to inherit and develop the essence of Chinese traditional art. This dream attracted some of the best artists and art teachers in China to join the institute. They include Mr. Jie Du, Mr. Tianxing Lin, Mr. Xingqi Deng Ms. Lan Shi & others. The students come from all over China not only learned the original ink painting skills from them, but also the way to be a more productive, creative and interesting person, according to a simple tool: the ink brush. Imitating the master pieces of the Song Dynasty (960 CE -1279 CE) is one of the important tasks of the students. The beauty of China has been painted by generations using a complicated and unique way. This way is very important for them to inherit and develop. The works presented to you today will bring you back to ancient China and the beautiful Beijing rural area of today. ARTIST BIO:

Haobo Zhang was born in 1973 in Hubei, China, graduated from Hubei Teachers’ University in 1994, and graduated from Xinzhuang Art Institute in 2018. He started Juren Wisdom Art and Culture Training Center in 2000 and made it the biggest training center in Shantou, Guangdong Province in China. There are 6000 students studying Chinese Art & foreign languages in the center today. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2014 and was attracted here by the beautiful mountains. He continues to paint and enjoys producing lots of artwork.
