WORLD SNOW DAY! Everyone is invited!
If you watched the 2002 Olympics at Soldier Hollow, you may have admired the world’s best athletes as they raced 50km on the final day of the Games, and wondered just how challenging it would have been to complete that course. Well, now you have your chance to experience it first-hand! On Jan. 19 at 10am, Soldier Hollow will host its first “Soldier Hollow Grand Tour”, a non-timed mass-start cross country ski event. Participants will choose to ski 1, 2 or 3 (!) laps of the famed Olympic 15km trail, including over 1,500 feet of vertical climb per lap.
Everyone is invited to take part! To participate, just purchase a trail pass (or use your season pass) at the Nordic center on the lower level of Soldier Hollow’s Lodge, and then ski down to the Competition building in the stadium to register in the race office before 9:30am. Let the race office know your name, the number of laps you’re planning to ski, pick up your bib and head to the start line in the biathlon stadium. All participants will start together at 10am. No times, no prizes, just the pride of finishing the course.
Trail pass admission is required.
