Red Dress Concert

Red Dress Concert

Presented by Chamber Orchestra Ogden and Peery's Egyptian Theater at Peery's Egyptian Theater

This year we will perform five works for orchestra, including two with members of the orchestra who were chosen to perform as soloists with us.  The concert will open with The Overture to “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss.  Next up will be Prometheus Rapture (Seven Legends for Snare Drum and Orchestra) by Sean Beeson.  Our soloist on this is percussionist Matthew Kinney.

Moving to music from Russia we will next present Igor Stravinsky’s set of very short pieces titled Suite No. 2 for Small Orchestra.  Continuing on we will present Carl Maria von Weber’s well-known Clarinet Concerto No. 1 in f minor in 1811.  Orchestra clarinetist Shawn Berry will solo.  Closing out the program will be Georges Bizet’s exciting Carmen Suite No. 1.  After Bizet’s death a close friend compiled this suite and the Suite No. 2 from Bizet’s best-known opera “Carmen,”  The suite ends with the rousing Les Toréadors.
