Jiyoun Lee-Lodge is a Korean-born, Salt Lake City-based artist. Her work addresses, among many topics, identity, perception, and the fragility of memory. She’s interested in how people process the ups and downs in life and inevitable change. Influenced by infographics, animations, and hieroglyphs, she creates “inner portraits,” which portray sight, smell, sound, and emotions that are frozen in time. As she reenacts her experience by staging feelings as forms, she portrays a sense of being between space and time. This show includes ‘Waterman the Stranger’ series, which reflects her struggle to the adaptation to Utah’s life, moving from New York.

Jiyoun recently won best in show at the UT ’19 Statewide Annual Mixed Media & Works on Paper Exhibition. She was nominated as a NYC Urban Canvas finalist, and recently has completed the mural ‘the Arrival’ at PS144Q, Forest Hills, NY, working with NYSCA. She has also been the recipient of Utah Museum of Contemporary Art’s Artist-in-residence program, Manhattan Graphics Center Workspace Fellowship, New York; ArtMora Residency Program, New York; and a teaching fellowship at Brooklyn College.
