Clay & Ink: Art Inspired by the Wasatch

Clay & Ink: Art Inspired by the Wasatch

Presented by Alta Community Enrichment at Our Lady of the Snows Center

Thursday, February 20th | Our Lady of the Snows | Free

Join us for an evening of art inspired by the Wasatch.

Born and raised skiing up Little Cottonwood Canyon, sisters Ayja and Tyndall Bounous have both found passion creating separate forms of art inspired by the Wasatch Mountains. For Ayja, it's through ink. Her first published book, “Shaped by Snow: Defending the Future of Winter”, explores the impacts of climate change in the Wasatch Front. While weaving natural science with personal narrative and stories of her family’s role in the local ski industry, she discovers that her relationships are tied to landscapes threatened by climate change.

For Tyndall its through clay. After enjoying creating and teaching pottery for years, Tyndall has found her true inspiration comes from the adventures in her backyard. She enjoys creating functional mugs, bowls, vases, detailed with hand-carved Utah peaks and desert landscapes.
