Dr. Rebecca London’s recently-released book, Rethinking Recess: Creating Safe and Inclusive Play Time for All Children in School, is based on her extensive research of Playworks and her observations of schools that are making the most of recess.

Dr. London will discuss her research, including evidence of the need for equitable access to recess, a timely discussion in our state as the Utah State Board of Education recently recommended new best practices for recess. The best practices discourage excluding students from recess for disciplinary reasons, academic performance in the classroom or remediation.

Dr. London will do a Q&A after presenting her research and we will do what Playworks does best, play some games!
