Mel Scott -ARTIST
One constant in my life is the knowledge I was born to paint , I have always known I would be an artist and the opportunities to learn, study with great mentors have been many.
I love to learn and seem to be on a journey of discovery as the years pass. I began with drawing, oils, watercolors, clay, acrylics, collage, mixed media, with an emphasis lately on alcohol inks. It is my blessing to have the opportunity to share the arts with countless people in the community at Dixie State University and currently at THE ART FACTOR, ARTS to ZION and teach private students in my studio/gallery.
I have a love for this community and have served on numerous art committees , art festivals, galleries and am the first president and one of the 7 original founders of the Southern Utah Watercolor Society (now called the Dixie Watercolor Society). For 10 years I was the art department chair at Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts working with many creative souls.
My newest venture is working with a humanitarian project ShopVida, a worldwide company where I use my art work and design clothing which is sold around the world. Vida is a non profit and each time an item sells I receive word that someone got a meal and bed because I painted . It is so rewarding to be part of a venture that gives back.
During all these years in Dixie my husband Gene Scott and I raised 6 children who all are artists in their own fields.
