“To see the Earth as it truly is, small and blue and beautiful in that eternal silence where it floats, is to see ourselves as riders on the Earth together, brothers on that bright loveliness in the eternal cold--brothers who know now they are truly brothers.” -Archibald MacLeish
Guest curated by local artist and activist Maomi Sunshine Blackburn, the Urban Arts Gallery’s April exhibit “Earthrise: Artists for the Earth” features a collection of work celebrating the fragile beauty of our home planet. April 2020 marks the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, and the topic of environmental stewardship has never been more timely. This exhibit of art strives to shine a spotlight on the relationship between our species and our planet, as well as on the beauty of our environment that so urgently needs our protection.
“Earthrise: Artists for the Earth” hangs from March 31st to April 26th, with a gallery stroll reception on Friday, April 17th from 6-9pm. Admission is free and open to the public.
