Cycles & Suffragettes

Presented by Provo Parks and Recreation at Provo Bicycle Collective

Join us for a triumphant bike ride around Provo to celebrate the work of women who fought for our right to vote.

Susan B. Anthony said "I think [the bicycle] has done more to emancipate women than anything in the world... It gives her a feeling of self-reliance and independence the moment she takes her seat; and away she goes, the picture of untrammelled woman hood."

Join us for a triumphant bike ride around Provo to celebrate work of women who fought for our right to vote, and have political representation. Each rider will be provided with a large portrait of a historical suffragette which they can proudly display, zip tied to their bike handlebars throughout the ride. We want to make the connection between past and present feel real.

We'll circle back to the bike collective at the end of the ride to share treats, and thoughts about modern day female political participation.
