2020 Lecture Series: John Marzluff

Presented by Natural History Museum of Utah at Natural History Museum of Utah

John Marzluff, author and professor of wildlife science at the University of Washington, will be the next speaker in the 2020 Lecture Series taking place March 10 at 7 p.m. at the Museum.

Marzluff is the author of five books, including Welcome to Subirdia, which revealed how suburbs of many large cities support incredible biological diversity. While human impact on the environment is unavoidable in our cities and towns, some of the most charismatic winged creatures thrive in these urban and suburban habitats. And, as we affect the birds around us, they shape our culture, commerce, and quality of life.

Marzluff urges that we make an effort to enhance the bird habitats near our homes; in doing so we will cultivate communities that value nature, are attractive and exciting places to live, and improve our own mental and physical health.

Join us for this insightful lecture, for which tickets are free but registration is required. Marzluff’s talk will be followed by a book signing of his latest book, Welcome to Subirdia.
