Mrs. Savage has been left $10 million by her late husband. Her grown up step-children want to get their hands on it and to this end commit her to a "sanitorium." There she meets various social misfits who struggle adjusting to normal life. The self-seeking step-children are driven to distraction in their attempts to get the money while Mrs. Savage and her new friends conspire to lead them on a merry chase and get rid of the money-seekers once and for all.

The show is  a warm comedy that reminds viewers of virtues such as kindness and affection that need not be lost in a world of greed and dishonesty.
