The Natural History Museum of Utah is proud to present Research Quest—an online educational resource for students who are at home, that promotes critical thinking–this week: change in the mountains.
This week's investigations focus on change in the Uinta Mountains of Utah--change that's impacting many mountains in the American West and around the world.
On Monday through Thursday, we'll focus on the following:
Monday: Impacts of a changing ecosystems, part one.
Tuesday: Impacts of a changing ecosystems, part two.
Wednesday: What is the future of a forest under attack? Part one
Thursday: What is the future of a forest under attack? Part two
Friday: A question and answer session with NHMU's Ellen Eiriksson about her work running the Museum's Citizen Science program.
Also, on Monday through Thursday we'll have a bonus conversation with scientists starting at 11 a.m.
11 a.m. Monday, A conversation with NHMU Curator Bryn Dentinger--an expert on fungi and mushrooms.
11 a.m. Tuesday, A conversation with NHMU Collections Manager Christy Bills--an entomologist (insect expert).
11 a.m. Wednesday, Join us for a conversation with another ecosystem researcher, Austin Green. He's a Ph.D. student here at the University of Utah who uses camera traps - like the ones we used in our Research Quest Uinta Mountain investigations - to study the impacts of human development on animals along Utah's Wasatch Front.
11 a.m. Thursday, Join Dr. Teri Orr, Assistant Professor at New Mexico State University, on Research Quest Live to learn about bats, their roles in ecosystems, and how climate change has affected these amazing mammals.
