* This event has been postponed until October of 2021 due to COVID-19. * Qwanqwa will perform their unique Ethiopian music on Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 pm in the Canyon Community Center located at 126 Lion Boulevard in Springdale, Utah.
QWANQWA is a supergroup of musicians from the baddest ensembles of Addis Ababa.
Brought together by a shared passion for the power of Ethiopian music, this group shines an experimentalism based in the virtuosity of rooted traditions. With swirling mesekno (one-stringed fiddle), punk krar solors (electric lyre), wah-wah-violing, bass krar boom, and the unstoppable rhythm of heavy kebero (goat-skin drum) beats, powerful traditional lead African diva vocals, Qwanqwa keeps the people wrapped in celebratory attention. After making a splash at world renowned festivals and with two European tours under their belt, this world traveling ensemble is coming to America!
Tickets will be $15, available at the door or in advance through EventBrite in the summer of 2021. The performance will be General Admission.
