APEX Event - Fall 2020 Speaker Series

Presented by Southern Utah University at R. Haze Hunter Conference Center

A.P.E.X. Events is Southern Utah University’s premier weekly lecture series, with speakers and presenters invited from all areas of the world. Attendees to our events are students, faculty, staff and community members, and the series features a diverse range of topics and disciplines. While on campus, guests are invited to interact with students and faculty in multiple ways, with opportunities to connect and network in vast areas of scholarship! All A.P.E.X. events are free and open to the public and we welcome you to join us!

Planned as in-person events, but all the events will be live-streamed and recorded for those who can’t attend or if things on campus change.

Fall 2020 APEX Series:

September 24 – Alumni Spotlight | Homecoming Week – – Focused on the excellence that has come from the Southern Utah University campus.
October 1 – Mandeep Khalsa | Meditation & Wellness – – A yoga, meditation and Ayurveda teacher, Mandeep will focus on introducing and sharing techniques/practices for self-elevation.
October 8 – Bonnie Clark | Eccles Visiting Scholar – – Acclaimed Anthropologist and leader of the DU Amache Project will speak on building community collaboration through her extensive work at Amache, Colorado’s WWII-era Japanese American internment camp.
October 15 – Ryan Paul & Wyett Ihler | Secrets of Cedar City – – Sharing their research form the YouTube Series “Main Street Minutes.” They will give you stories and historical events of our beloved Cedar City!
October 22 – Drew Forde | Eccles Visiting Scholar – – Acclaimed LA-based violist, social media star, and music collaborator seeks to demystify the stubborn perceptions of classical music, & will perform for our audience.
October 29 – Brian Evenson | Let’s Celebrate Halloween! – – Celebrated & award-winning author will speak about his books and what its like writing novels and stories in the horror genre.
November 5 – Tate Walker | Eccles Visiting Scholar – – Author and activist of Thunder Thighs & Trickster Vibes “writes, rights and riots” on issues of cultural competency, anti-racism and inclusive community building.
November 12 – Al Runte | Our American Environment – – Nationally acclaimed speaker and writer will share his passion and activism for our natural world.
November 19 – Leavitt Center Collaboration – – Centered around the engaging political landscape!
