The Adaptive Arts Academy is a collaboration between SCERA and RAH to provide a collegiate style arts program for individuals with special needs age 16 and older. Everyone can have a voice through the arts! All classes will be taught virtually via Zoom with future classes taught on location at SCERA Center for the Arts and also available via zoom for those who live out of the area or have other health concerns. Participants need to be able to participate in classes independently or with a personal assistant or aide provided by the student’s caregiving team or family to provide assistance and support to enable the student fully participate. Class time is limited and will be structured from start to finish. Please plan to be logged in at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.

VIRTUAL CLASSES

Virtual Adaptive Handcrafts
Age 16+
Mondays 10:30-11:15am | September 21-November 16
$50.00 for the 8 week session (includes all materials)
This online Zoom class will explore different methods of Handcrafts using various mediums such as Fabric Crafting, Clay, Puppetry, Paper Crafts and others. A different project will be made each week to be displayed and enjoyed. A materials kit will be included and will need to be picked up on the Friday before classes begin (September 18th)

Virtual Adaptive Lion King Musical Theatre Workshop
Age 16+
Monday 4:30-5:15pm | September 21-November 16 | $50.00 for the 8 week session (includes all materials)
This online Zoom class is an immersive theater experience introduction students to the many aspects of theater making through the lens of The Lion King. A fun exploration of the music, movement, prop making and behind the scenes activities will engage students in this virtual theater experience. Instructors: Dana Cardon & Christy Norton. A materials kit will be included and will need to be picked up on the Friday before classes begin (September 18th)

Virtual Adaptive Ukulele and Singing
Age 16+
Wednesday 10:30-11:15am | September 23-November 18
$40.00 for the 8 week session (includes Uke Buddy)
This online Zoom class will explore basic vocal techniques and Ukulele basics using the adaptive tool “the Ukulele Buddy.” A fun selection of Folk and Christmas songs will be learned and enjoyed. No Ukulele experience is required as the first two weeks will review the basics and then the class will move at an Accelerated pace for those who took the class previously. Class materials include a Ukulele Buddy tool (If needed) that will need to be picked up on the Friday before the classes begin (September 18th). Your own Concert or Soprano Ukulele is required and can be purchased on Amazon if you do not already have one. Instructor: Dana Cardon

Virtual Adaptive Visual Arts
Age 16+
Wednesdays 4:30-5:15pm | September 23-November 18
$50.00 for the 8 week session (includes all materials)
This online Zoom class will explore basic Art Techniques will be explored such as watercolors, oil pastels, Acrylics, sketching and other artistic media. There will be a different project each week that will be added to each student’s portfolio to be shared at the end of the session with other students. Instructor: Rachael Gibson. A materials kit will be included and will need to be picked up on the Friday before classes begin (September 18th)
