University of Utah’s Guest Writers Series presents an evening conversation with poets Diana Khoi Nguyen & Mei-me Berssenbrugge.
Poet and multimedia artist Diana Khoi Nguyen is the author of the chaplet Unless, published by Belladonna* in 2019, and debut poetry collection, Ghost Of, which was selected by Terrance Hayes for the 2018 Omnidawn Open Contest and received the 2019 Kate Tufts Discovery Award and Colorado Book Award. Nguyen is a Kundiman fellow. Her poetry and prose have appeared widely in journals such as Poetry, American Poetry Review, and PEN America.
Mei-mei Berssenbrugge is the author of numerous poetry collections including The Heat Bird (winner of the American Book Award), Empathy (winner of the PEN West Award), Four Year Old Girl (winner of the Western States Book Award), and A Treatise On Stars recently published by New Directions. She has also engaged in rich collaborations in artist books with Richard Tuttle and Kiki Smith as well as performances with Morita Dance Company, Bondell Cummings, and others. She is the recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and honors from the Western States Art Foundation and the Asian American Writers Group.
