Hope Comes from Transformations SUU Choir Concert

Presented by Southern Utah University Department of Music at Southern Utah University

The first concert of the Music Masterwork Series is Friday, October 2, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the Heritage Center Theater. SUU Choirs will perform together under the direction of Dr. Krystal McCoy in a Musical Theatre concert titled, Transformations. They will be joined by two high schools, Cedar Valley High School choir, directed by Kyle Harper and West High School choir, directed by Melinda Benson, for the final combined piece. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Southern Utah University faculty, staff, and students are free with a valid ID card. Faculty and staff IDs are allowed one guest. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the concert or online at www.suu.edu/pva. Audience members will be required to wear masks.

With regard to rehearsing during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cobe Clark, sophomore Music Education major from St. George, Utah, says, “Learning to sing in a mask has been interesting, but I'm glad that we're still able to put on this concert. I've had to get better at breath support, because it's harder to get in deep breaths in a mask. In preparing for the concert, Clark goes on to say, “I've learned that life can be beautiful despite crazy challenges and music is a great release for hard feelings. If your life has been changed before, you'll find something to relate to in this show.”
