Evening racing under the lights will take place at Soldier Hollow this winter, with a Tuesday night race series aimed at providing a fun, low-key opportunity to bring the local Nordic community together to socialize, compete and ski. A new LED lighting system will illuminate the Soldier Hollow bowl and allow for many of the trails around the stadium area to be skied after dark. Racing will take place on two laps of an approx. 3.5K trail. The available lighting will not be overpowering and will be just enough to ski comfortably; skiers will also want to consider using a headlamp while skiing to add to the visibility. All races will be free-technique to allow for either classic or skating.

The racing format will be flexible to accommodate varying schedules. On-site entry and start number pickup will be open from 5-6:30pm each race day. Once a competitor is registered on-site, he or she will be assigned to a start wave approximately 30 minutes later. Start waves will begin at 5:30pm and continue with a new wave every 15 min until the final wave at 7pm. No awards, and times will be posted by wave (ranked within the wave) and available online after the event.
