Lindeman is a professor in the Brigham Young University School of Music, where he teaches music theory, orchestration, jazz piano, history, styles and analysis, and world music. He holds degrees from Indiana University, Queens College of the City University of New York, and Rutgers University. He is active as a jazz composer and keyboardist along the Wasatch Front. He has studied at the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop, directed by Jim McNeely, and with David Baker, Ronnie Matthews, Jack Reilly, Kenny Barron, Tamir Hendelman, Stefan Karlsson, Mike Holober, and Kris Johnson.
