Squirrel Fest

Presented by Natural History Museum of Utah at Online/Virtual Space

Squirrel Fest is a week long data collection effort – encouraging members of the community to observe squirrels in their natural habitat,  and then report these findings to the Natural History Museum of Utah. We need you help!

We're trying to understand the impact that fox squirrels, a non-native species of tree squirrel is having to Northern Utah, and have created a new survey form that can be accessed on our website, and also downloaded as an app on your phone. The observations you enter will help Dr. Eric Rickart, and others, better understand the distribution, abundance, ecology and behaviors of fox squirrels in Utah.

Fox Squirrels are likely in Utah to stay- and there is still a lot we can learn about them. Help NHMU dive deeper by sharing your observations during Squirrel Fest!
