Shakespeare Original Pronunciation and Accents: Dialects with David Alan Stern

Shakespeare Original Pronunciation and Accents: Dialects with David Alan Stern

Presented by Utah Shakespeare Festival at Online/Virtual Space

Everybody speaks with a distinctive dialect. And in Shakespeare's plays, the rhymes, humor, and intention of his words are amplified and enhanced when you understand the Bard's original pronunciation. Dr. David Alan Stern has been helping actors get this just right for over forty years, and he shares some of his insights and stories in this virtual seminar. As a teacher and a voice and speech trainer specializing in accent and dialect coaching, accent learning, accent reduction, and character voices for cartoons and puppets, his clients have included such notables as Forest Whitaker (The Crying Game and Bird), Geena Davis (The Accidental Tourist), Liam Neeson (Next of Kin), Lynn Redgrave (Sweet Sue and Midnight), and more. Join him as he discusses this fascinating area of theatre, moderated by Festival Executive Producer Frank Mack.
