This is a six-week Introductory course in landscape oil painting that teaches the fundamentals of composition, color, painting technique, materials, lighting, depth of field, and student-led inquiry.
In this course, we will familiarize ourselves with the materials of oil painting used in capturing the landscape. We will cover concepts such as breaking down the complexities of nature into simplified masses. Capturing desired lighting effects to add mood and atmosphere to your painting. Come to understand depth and which techniques render this effectively. Understanding historical uses and contexts of landscape painting. Use of color to bring paintings to life. The different ways to compose your painting and the effects those decisions have on your painting.
This class is for any skill level, but some fundamental understanding of art/painting is helpful. Instruction can be differentiated according to the need of each student.
Supplies: Basic supplies will be provided to the class. Individuals may bring their own materials according to preference as well.
