Learn about the fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes, with Michael Homer. Explore the formation of Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle, his use of science and deductive reasoning, and the Utah connection.

Michael W. Homer is a member of the Baker Street Irregulars. He has written numerous articles concerning Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes including “’A Message of Cheer and Uplift’: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Ramble in Salt Lake City” in A Tangled Skein: Companion Volume to the Baker Street Irregulars’ Expedition to the Country of the Saints; and “The Mormon Subplot in A Study in Scarlet and Angels of Darkness” in Angels of Darkness, A Drama in Three Acts – both published by BSI Press, and “Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Holmes and the Mormons, in 70 Years By Gaslight. He is a trial lawyer, Honorary Italian Consul in Utah, a Fellow of the Utah State Historical Society, Chair of the J. Willard Marriott Library Advisory Board, University of Utah, and member of Board of Advisors, Office of Undergraduate Advancement, University of Utah.
