Salty Science Series: Macro-invertebrates and Microbialites

Salty Science Series: Macro-invertebrates and Microbialites

Presented by Westminster University at Online/Virtual Space

A microscope trained on the waters of Great Salt Lake reveals a lively community of critters. Some of these critters create rocks, others support an multi-million dollar international industry and they all work together to feed millions of migratory birds. Panelists include Dr. Melody Lindsay, MSU graduate student Eric Dunham, Westminster alumna and graduate student Abby Scott, and Dr. Frank Black. The event will be moderated by GSLI coordinator Jaimi Butler.

The Salty Science Series is hosted by Great Salt Lake at Westminster College and will feature contributing authors in "Great Salt Lake Biology: a Terminal Lake in a Time of Change" in a series of 6 panel discussions. We hope that you will break out your inner nerd and have a lake themed dinner or drink ready to enjoy while you learn about the lake. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the night for the most creative food or libation. Jaimi’s dinner for this first event will include green south arm (avocado) toast sprinkled with course ground halite and a hard-boiled pickled egg on the side.

Don't worry if you cannot make this virtually in person, as they will be recorded and available when you have time.
