Robert Morrison will contrast the romanticized portrayal of Netflix's Bridgerton series with his own 2019 book, The Regency Years: During Which Jane Austen Writes, Napoleon Fights, Byron Makes Love, and Britain Becomes Modern, while discussing the profound ways in which the Regency era shaped the modern world.
Morrison is currently a British Academy Global Professor at Bath Spa University and Queen's National Scholar at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. He specializes in 19th-century British literature and culture, and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2017. He has written several books and has been awarded for his efforts as a literary professor nearly half a dozen times.
