Education has been a vital part of HawkWatch International’s mission from the very beginning. Thousands of people have enjoyed the experience of meeting a raptor ambassador up close while learning more about these charismatic birds. Then COVID happened. Suddenly, the format we had always relied on wasn’t an option anymore.

Faced with the need to totally change their approach, our education department dug deep, creating a complete, raptor-based digital curriculum available through the highly interactive NearPod platform. The results have been tremendous, with schools throughout Utah able to continue participating in our informal science education programs. Even better, this new format has allowed HawkWatch educators to reach students across the country from Maine to Washington.
