Join UMOCA as we celebrate the opening of new exhibitions throughout the museum.
Due to Salt Lake County's transition to moderate COVID-19 transmission level, the Salt Lake County Arts & Culture COVID-19 policies have changed for the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art, allowing the museum to welcome increased numbers of visitors and hold public openings. On Friday, March 26 from 6–9 pm, UMOCA will hold its first public exhibition opening since February 2020, a long-awaited opportunity for the museum to celebrate the local and national artists whose work is currently on view in the galleries.
The museum-wide opening celebrates all six of the exhibitions currently on view in the museum, including Material Issues: Strategies in 21st Century Craft in the Main Gallery Presented by Diane & Sam Stewart and Baggage: Alex Caldiero In Retrospect in the Street Gallery. The opening will provide an opportunity for visitors to view the art and chat with exhibiting artists. Additionally, poet and sonosopher Alex Caldiero, whose retrospective exhibition is on view in the Street Gallery, will perform an intimate poetry reading in the UMOCA auditorium during the opening. For more information and tickets to the reading, contact UMOCA Development Director Aubri Tuero at aubri.tuero@utahmoca.org.
