AWE+SUM Girls Camp

The AWE+SUM (Attend Westminster—Explore Science—Use Math) Camp at Westminster College is held every summer and is open to female-identifying students that are in or entering 7th or 8th grade. The camp supports interest in the sciences and showcases the variety of careers available in science fields. The 2021 AWE+SUM Camp will be conducted in a virtual format and will include virtual field trips, science workshops, and hands-on activities.

Sample Workshops

Stars and distant galaxies: Learn how astronomers tell stars and galaxies apart.
Code Your Escape: Solve problems to move through virtual rooms by learning about women engineers, writing code, and the basic principles used by software engineers.
Brainy Brine Shrimp: Join Westminster scientists and students from the Great Salt Lake Institute to learn more about the millions of tons of brine shrimp in Great Salt Lake. You'll get your own shrimp with all the supplies to grow them at home.
