Take a Bite Out of Science: What Is a Raptor?

Take a Bite Out of Science: What Is a Raptor?

Presented by HawkWatch International at Online/Virtual Space

Hawks, eagles, owls, and vultures. What do they have in common? They're all commonly referred to as "raptors" or "birds of prey." But what does that mean? And what really makes a raptor a raptor?

It turns out that there's a lot to consider and this isn't just a fun academic exercise. The definition also has important implications due to its influence on research priorities, funding decisions, and conservation actions. Join Dr. Dave Oleyar, Director of Long-term Monitoring and Community Science, for this short, lunchtime presentation where you'll learn more about the science behind what makes a raptor a raptor.

Take a Bite out of Science is a virtual "lunch and learn" series where the HawkWatch International staff share scientific research, findings, and more in bite-sized nuggets, digestible for anyone and everyone. These presentations are made possible by Salt Lake County ZAP and the generosity of supporters like you.
