The 2021 Kanab Writers Conference features a plein air hike and retreat, self-publishing seminar, 45+ breakout classes, a writing contest, anthology, and more. Keynote addresses will be delivered by Amy Harmon, Carol Ormond, and Elaine Vickers.
On Thursday, November 4, come and write in the beautiful surroundings of Red Rock country during our Plein Air hike. After the hike, join us for a special keynote address from Elaine Vickers, a writing retreat and social activities. Students from local schools will present essays during a community reading, sponsored by the conference that evening.
On Friday morning, November 5, come join us for a self-publishing seminar hosted by Eschler Editing. Learn about editing, self-publishing platforms and formatting, and cover design and more. Eschler editing will also be offering consultations with conference attendees for editing, cover design, and marketing.
Friday afternoon through Saturday, November 5-6, the general sessions of the conference will be held, offering 45+ breakout sessions focusing on writing craft and other related topics, pitch sessions and manuscript consults with industry professionals, a community bookstore and book signing, writing contest, anthology project, social events, and community engagement events throughout the weekend. New York Times Best best-selling author Amy Harmon will deliver a keynote address on Saturday morning for conference attendees. On Friday evening, November 5, the conference will host a free community event featuring Carol Ormond discussing her book, The People, a photojournal of the native people's contributions to John Wesley Powell's expeditions.
