This is the 15th Annual Spring City Arts Plein Air Painting Competition and Artist Studio Tour, one of Utah\'s longest running premier plein air painting events.  Artists paint from August 28 to September 3, in Sanpete County, Utah.  They must register and stamp their canvases before beginning, so all artwork is confirmed to be created during the week of the event.  Finished artwork will be displayed at an exhibition open to the public on Saturday, September 4, from 10 am to 5 pm.  Selected artists will also paint Saturday morning in a \"quick paint\" event, with those works to be sold at a public auction commencing t 1:00 pm.  A reception, open to the public, will be held at the Spring City Gallery at 7:00 pm on the evening of Friday, September 3, with the a preview of the competition paintings and announcement of the winners..

This year the artists will be competing for prizes in two categories -- general and Thrive125.  The Thrive 125 winners will be selected from artists depicting structures that existed at the time of Utah\'s statehood in 1896, or other subject matter relating to Utah\'s statehood.  The competition art must be created following traditional \"plein air\" painting rules.  The local artist studios will be open on Saturday, September 4, from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm.
