The Aspen String Trio is celebrated for its virtuoso performances. One of the rare professional string trios performing and touring today, the Trio performs works from the classical string trio canon, new music, and themed concerts.
Consistently praised for their “masterful sensitivity” and “ultra-refined musicianship,” their “tight ensemble work” and “musical intelligence,” the Aspen String Trio is comprised of violinist David Perry, violist Victoria Chiag, and cellist Michael Mermagen. In addition to the complete trios of Beethoven, Mozart, and Schubert, they offer lesser known blockbuster works by Dohnanyi, Hindemith, Martinů, Rozsa, Klein, Veress, Villa-Lobos and Ysaÿe, and continuously mine the archives for unexpected rarities and new gems. Their many “themed” concert programs are in high demand, including a Goldberg Variations lecture recital, Remembered Voices (works of heartstopping beauty by composers tragically suppressed by the Nazi regime), and a new program that imaginatively pairs John Harbison’s brilliant new trio, “a major addition to the tiny string trio repertory,” with Mozart’s K.563 that inspired it.
Tickets will be on sale soon. Tickets may be purchased as a season package for all five concerts, as a mini-package of tickets for three of the five season concerts, or individually. Tickets at a discounted price will be offered to students.
