In this three-day course, we will focus on two painting projects. The first will be a close look at my painting methods of applying thick, vibrant paint with palette knives. We will do a step-by-step painting where I clearly define the process–transferring the drawing, blocking in color, and adding final detail. I will share how to use color pairs to get vibrating colors. We will learn how to match and control value and chroma to maximize field effects. I will provide reference, and we will use one of my pre-existing paintings as a guide.

For most artists, the first project will seem a bit mechanical. However, in the second project, you will use your own reference and be encouraged to fuse your style with principles observed in the previous project. Feel free to use either your own photo, drawing, or painting (my personal favorite) as reference. For those who need a bit more confidence, I will provide reference if you wish to repeat the step-by-step process.

This course is for adventurous beginners, intermediate painters who want to add more energy to their paintings, or advanced painters looking for new ideas to shake up their creative project.
