Cello Society of Southern Utah Concert

Presented by Kayenta Arts Foundation at Center for the Arts at Kayenta

“As we celebrate live, in-person performance again, the Cello Society of Southern Utah would like to share with you an evening of beautiful cello music. Highlights of our program include the amazing Dr. Lauren Posey performing the first movement from Schumann’s Cello Concerto with the cello ensemble, the famous Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1 by Brazilian composer Villa-Lobos that features cellos in 8 parts, Secrets by Utah composer Stephen Mitton, and arrangements of Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King and opening title sequence to the movie Psycho. The celebration of Camille Saint-Saëns’ (1835-1921) 100th anniversary will be another big portion of our program featuring his exciting Danse Bacchanale and The Swan. The Acceso Cello Quartet will also perform cellist-composer David Popper’s delightful Gavotte No. 2.” —Dr. Ka-Wai Yu, DMA, DSU
