Art, community inclusion, and helping our students' dreams come true through financial scholarship opportunities that can enhance the lives of our local youth are our core principles as we begin our event planning for the Dia de los Muertos Celebration at the Monarch in Ogden from November 1st to November 5th.
We will be celebrating and honoring:
Latino culture and community inclusivity
Visual and Performing Arts
Love ones we have lost to COVID-19
With the engagement of three local Latino Civic Organizations
Americans Coming Together for Immigrants in Ogden and Nationwide (ACTION)
Latinos United Promoting Education and Civic Engagement (LUPEC)
Image de Northern Utah
And with support of the Mexico Consulate office in Salt Lake City and our primary partner, Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music (OFOAM), we are bringing art, film, and music to the underrepresented Latino (~30%) and extended communities of Ogden. Generous support has been received from RAMP, Ogden City Arts, Utah Arts & Museums, WESTAF/NEA and many other partners, allowing us to offer these events at no charge to the community.
Our fundraising efforts are geared towards supporting our DACA and first generation students at Weber State University and Ogden Weber Technical College, and Los Dreamers, through our Sponsor A DREAMER program. Our commitment is that 100% of the funds collected through the Sponsor A DREAMER initiative will be disbursed to these organizations to be used by students who want to make their dreams a reality through education.
