Meet one of the lead Oncologists in Intermountain Health Care’s system. Dr. Haslem is leading a research program in determining whether an individual’s DNA will reveal genetic defects based on their family history.

Dr. Derrick S. Haslem MD, is the director of medical oncology, a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and medical oncology with expertise in targeted therapy. Dr. Haslem provides care for cancer patients at Intermountain Healthcare’s Southwest Regional Cancer Clinic, which has locations in both Cedar City and St. George.
As the director for cancer care in southern Utah, Dr. Haslem has assembled an all-star team including the breakthrough Cancer Genomics program. By all accounts, Southwest Cancer is the first institution to attempt, let alone succeed at, genomics therapy within an integrated delivery system. He received his medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics and an oncology fellowship at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Institute.
Dr. Haslem is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in medical oncology. He and his partners have established Intermountain Healthcare Cancer Genomics.
