The Silver Reef Museum is located near a unique Triple Junction of three physiographical regions that most of us know: the Colorado Plateau, the Mojave Desert and the Great Basin.  This junction of those three distinctive landscapes has created a very unique and amazing landscape around the greater St. George area, located within the yellow circle on the map above.

By attending this presentation, you’ll learn how to “read the landscape” around the Triple Junction area and find out how attributes such as geology, botany and climate have influenced what we see in this area today.  We’ll also show you where to go and see some of these attributes, such as near Silver Reef, the La Verkin Overlook, Confluence Park and inside the Virgin Anticline.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS: Cliff & Ilene Bandringa

Over the past 25 years, Cliff & Ilene have been roaming the Mojave Desert and Colorado Plateau regions scratching their heads and pondering how the landscapes got to the way they are today.  During those years, they have authored three on-line virtual travel guides including Death Valley, the Mojave National Preserve and the Anza-Borrego area, along with countless travel video tours on YouTube.

Cliff & Ilene now live in Hurricane, Utah, after living in the Mojave Desert region of Southern California for over 30 years.  By day, Ilene is a technical writer and Cliff works with computer software catering to the public transit industry.  When the workday is over, their hobby is exploring the great Southwest, then returning home to document their travels in words and pictures and sharing it with
others.
