Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification Course

Presented by Salt Lake City Public Library at Online/Virtual Space

In this virtual half-day workshop, parents and caregivers can learn how to make a difference for youth experiencing a mental health related crisis or challenge.

Registration is required. This workshop is held by experts from the USU Extension.

Topics include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions in those younger than 18. The course includes two hours of self-paced online work that each participant is to complete before the scheduled training. The course will be held on Zoom.

You will learn:

Youth mental health is a major crisis in Utah. Utah high school students are reporting that 36.7% felt sad or hopeless, 22.3% seriously considered attempting suicide, 18.7% made a suicide plan, 9.3% attempted suicide one or more times, and 2.1% had a suicide attempt that required medical attention in 2019.
