Pioneer Toys and Playthings

Presented by Daughters of Utah Pioneers - McQuarrie Memorial Museum, St. George at McQuarrie Memorial DUP Museum

What kind of toys would Santa have left for our early pioneer children?

As Christmas is fast approaching our thoughts go to toys. Children of our ancestors counted off the days to Christmas hoping for something. They knew it wouldn’t be much but still they hoped.

Dixie Miller will be making a presentation about early Christmas toys.  This will be a “show and tell” type presentation of what those gifts might have been. If you have a childhood toy, please bring it; this program is for young and old and if you have an old favorite toy (1850-1890) please bring it and share.

She is a Doll collector, Genealogist, History Buff and just loves collecting things. Originally born and raised in California and move to Washington, Utah 14 years ago with her husband of 57 years. Joined the Daughters of Utah Pioneer and belongs to the Purple Sage Camp.

Dixie will be at the Daughters of Utah Pioneers Museum for the 3rd Weekend Event on, Saturday, December 18, at 10:15 AM.  The Museum is located at 145 North 100 East, St. George.  The public is invited, and admission is free.  There is handicap access.  Call 435-628-7274 if you have questions.  Current COVID protocols are being followed.  Masks are not required but encouraged.
