Women's History Airfield Tour

Presented by Historic Wendover Airfield Museum at Historic Wendover Airfield Museum

For women’s history month, Historic Wendover Airfield is offering a unique airfield tour every Saturday in March. Women performed vital roles around the base in both military and civilian capacities in World War II. Step into our nurses’ quarters to see the conditions in which the members of the Army Nurse Corps lived and worked. Climb into a C-54 transport aircraft and see the Enola Gay Hangar to learn about the WASPs (Women Air Force Service Pilots) like Didi Moorman and Dora Dougherty Strother who demonstrated the B-29 Superfortress for the 509th Composite Group in Wendover as the group trained for the atomic missions. These two female pilots were the only women to be certified to fly the B-29 Superfortress and were requested by Col. Paul Tibbetts himself! Walk where these and many other remarkable women walked by visiting Historic Wendover Airfield. Contact the museum at 435-665-7724 to learn more.
