Pain of Salvation is known far and wide as one of the most vital bands in the resurgence of progressive music. From their first album in 1997 until now, Pain of Salvation has a reputation for being unpredictable, outside the box, and willing to experiment with styles. Being led by Daniel Gildenlöw (who is the band's main songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, and vocalist) they are considered to be one of the leading bands in the progressive rock/metal genre.
