2022 Great Salt Lake Bird Festival

2022 Great Salt Lake Bird Festival

Presented by Discover Davis - Utah's Amusement Capital at George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Wildlife Center

Discover Davis, Utah’s Amusement Capital, is thrilled to welcome you once again to the Annual Great Salt Lake Bird Festival! Now in its 24th year, the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival has been providing birdwatchers from across the nation with exceptional birding opportunities for over two decades. Thanks to Great Salt Lake and surrounding mountain ranges, over 250 species and millions of birds migrate through the area each year, making Davis the perfect location for outstanding birdwatching for professionals and beginners alike.

By participating in the 2022 Great Salt Lake Bird Festival, you are sure to have endless encounters with feathered friends of all sizes, species, and colors. With the help of our festival sponsors and festival committee members, this year’s festival is shaping up to be exceptional in many ways. After canceling the 2020 festival and having a modified event last year, we are pleased to return to regular festival operations and bring back many events that have been missed during the last two years.

Our 24th annual festival will feature 40 field trips throughout the Wasatch Front that provide attendees with exclusive experiences that are unique only to the Great Salt Lake Bird Festival. Our field trips leaders will take you through areas with open water, shores of fresh and saline lakes, sagebrush foothills, and evergreen forests, guaranteeing you an incredible experience and endless amount of bird sightings. Many field trips will explore some of Utah’s most beautiful State Parks, State Wildlife Areas, and National Refuge areas, as well as offer exclusive access to areas that cannot be visited by the general public.
Returning to the 2022 festival are 15 workshops featuring Hawkwatch International, keynote speaker Markus Mika, and more. Attend these workshops to learn from birding experts and to get an up-close look at some of your favorite species. We are also pleased to announce the return of vendor and information booths, as well as the continuation of our free Family Day activities.

We are thrilled to once again host this year’s festival at the George S. and Dolores Dore’ Eccles Wildlife Education Center at Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. Located on the outskirts of Great Salt Lake, this facility has proven to be a spectacular backdrop for all our birding activities.

Whether this is your first year attending or your 24th, we are happy to have you here for another wonderful Festival. Happy birding and be sure you share your photos with us!
