Matthew Baker age 15, began playing the classical guitar when he was four years old. He studies classical and electric guitar with Austin Weyand.
In 2021 Matthew won 3rd place in the Kithara Projects National Guitar Competition (Middle School division), and in 2020 Matthew won Second Place in the Kithara Projects National Competition (Middle School Division), Mid Maryland Guitar Festival National Competition (Middle school Division) and the Southern Guitar Festival National Competition(Division 2).
In 2019 Matthew won the Utah Symphony Youth Guild Competition as well as the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra (TSO) Aspiring Musicians Competition and an opportunity to solo with the TSO. In 2018 Matthew won the Utah Symphony Youth Guild Competition as well as the Utah Philharmonic Concerto Competition Director’s Choice Award and an opportunity to solo with the Utah Philharmonic. In 2017 Matthew soloed with the American Fork Symphony.
Matthew enjoys reading and playing tennis.
