With an all-original repertoire of insightful, heartfelt songs by award-winning lyricist Brian Laidlaw, The Family Trade’s sound is a word-rich, harmony-heavy revival of the 60s and 70s Americana. Their performances make even the biggest of stages feel as intimate as a bonfire circle.
About Family Trade:
The Family Trade is a folk/Americana act fronted by poet-songwriter Brian Laidlaw and vocalist-instrumentalist Ashley Hanson. Originally based in Minneapolis, The Family Trade built a devoted following on the strength of their live shows, bolstered by radio airplay on stations around the country. The band has released records with a variety of labels, including the 7″ vinyl single Jeremiad from Hymie’s Vintage Records, and the new full-length LP This Aster, out on vinyl from Fonograf Editions in 2022. After nearly a decade on the road, the band now calls Moab, Utah, their home. They continue to tour nationally, and they moonlight – sometimes literally – as rock climbers.
